The intent of The Zelda Marathon is to raise funds in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters St. Catharines – Thorold & District. The funds will directly support their organization by aiding in the production of future fundraising efforts, helping their mentorship programs and making successful mentorship matches.

The event will begin Nov.27th at 6 p.m. Eastern Time and will end when we have completed all 7 games. We will be playing : The Legend of Zelda, The Adventure of Link, A Link To The Past, Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask, The Wind Waker and The Twilight Princess. Also, we are very excited to announce that we will be playing and broadcasting LIVE from Big Brothers Big Sisters Headquarters in St. Catharines. This is going to add such a wonderful element to the marathon, and will also afford some of the Little Brothers the chance to come help us play the games!

For every major donation goal we hit, there will be a corresponding punishment or act of entertainment that we are committed to doing (Refer to the donation goal list HERE)

The Penguins in The Desert Marathon team consists of: Adam Maiolo, Rob Burke, Ryan Servos, Dave Chambers and Trevor Nichols. Check out our bios below!

Adam

Adam
My name is Adam, and this is my bio. Naturally, a little background on what lead me to this point should be first and foremost. My time at Brock University studying Media and Communications gave me a profound respect for the power of the media, specifically the Internet, as a mass communication tool. I parlayed my degree in Communications with a certificate in PR, where I learned a great deal about fundraising and working with non-profit organizations. Marrying these two schools of thought with my fan boy adoration of anything, and everything Zelda is what yielded “The Zelda Marathon”. It is also imperative that I cite teams such as The Mario Marathon and The Speed Gamers for showing us what videogames can do for the community. I hope you all have as much fun as I intend to!

Boston Rob (The Fail Man)

Rob

Boston Rob (The Fail Man) is one of the co-founders of Penguins in The Desert Productions and is excited to host The Zelda Marathon. Rob has always been actively involved in the community and believes in giving back to help the youth and people that are in need. He strongly believes that there are creative ways to benefit the local community that are being overlooked. Keep posted to the event schedule to see if Boston Rob will get Boston Creamed! Will this individual make it through the entirety of The Zelda Marathon? Or will he truly be The Fail Man? Keep watching to find out!

Ryan

Ryan

I go to school at York University in Toronto, Ontario. My interests pertain mainly to philosophy, politics, economics and futuristic technologies. I had three parents growing up; my Mother, my Father, and the TV, so naturally a portion of my childhood (and the time served in adulthood) has been spent with video game controller in hand. Not only can I conceive of video gaming as an excellent way to spend every afternoon, but also as a legitimate scientific frontier.

Dave

Dave
Hi my name is David Chambers. I have a bachelors in Kinesiology and am currently doing some post grad work to get my doctorate in chiropractic. I guess my sctick is being the work out guy in the group. I know  a lot of people associated with the Big Brother Big Sister mentorship programs and I am glad to aid it with any support I can can give. I have had many a long joyous nights playing videogames and I guess you could call that training.

Trevor aka Shvitz Fisher

Trevor

Hello there, my name is Trevor, or to some “Shvitz.” I was asked to join my good friends on this evolutionary journey through The Legend of Zelda because of my passion for the Zelda franchise, as well as video games in general. I grew up alongside the NES, and picked up every Nintendo system along the way. I have recently completed my degree in Outdoor Recreation, and am working on becoming a wildlife filmmaker. With a combined passion of video games, the natural environment, my lovely girlfriend Brittany, and the Boston Bruins, I am determined to help raise as much money as possible for an absolutely fantastic organization, Big Brothers Big Sisters.
